Healthy no-bake cookies!!

Imagine! No-bake cookies that are healthy! These were inspired by my mother-in-law who made no-bakes with honey once. I decided to try to take the idea further. My husband even liked them! And they were soft and chewy when cool. So here's what I did:

Healthy No-Bake Cookies

1/2 c. milk
1/4 c. butter
1/2 c. honey
1/4 c. peanut butter
1 t. vanilla
3 c. quick oats
1/4 c. ground flaxseed (optional)

Heat the milk, butter and honey on medium heat until bubbly. Cook for 3 minutes. Remove from heat and add remaining ingredients. Drop by spoonfuls onto cookie sheet and cool (I like to put them into the freezer to speed up the process.).

A Sunday citation

Women's conference last night was beautiful! So much of it touched my heart and taught me. For the Sunday citation today, I chose a quote that particularly struck me:

"My dear sisters, your Heavenly Father loves you--each of you. That love never changes. It is not influenced by your appearance, by your possessions, or by the amount of money you have in your bank account. It is not changed by your talents and abilities. It is simply there. It is there for you when you're sad or happy; discouraged or hopeful. God's love is there for you whether or not you deserve love. It is simply always there.

"As we seek our Heavenly Father through fervent, sincere prayer and earnest, dedicated scripture study, our testimonies will become strong and deeply rooted. We will know of God's love for us. We will understand that we do not ever walk alone.

"I promise you, that you will one day stand aside and look at your difficult times, and you will realize that he was always there beside you. I know this to be true in the passing of my eternal companion, Francis Beverly Johnson Monson."

Those were the closing remarks of President Thomas S. Monson, our prophet. He knows that what he says is true, and the Spirit testified to my heart that what he said is true. I hope you can understand how very important it is to begin to understand these things.

A Sunday citation

Here is a great quote that I found in the Doctrine and Covenants Institute Manual:

"Many of the social restraints which in the past have helped to reinforce and to shore up the family are dissolving and disappearing. The time will come when only those who believe deeply and actively in the family will be able to preserve their families in the midst of the gathering evil around us." (Spencer W. Kimball, "Families can be eternal," Ensign, Nov. 1980, p. 4.)

How committed are you to keeping your family intact?

It's fall time!!

Today is the first day of fall! I love fall for the rich colors, the harvest and the holidays. It's a time to be grateful, to get ready for a snug winter and to listen to General Conference.

In honor of today, I thought I'd share a song from Primary Children's Songbook that I learned recently. It's called Autumn Day.

Autumn day, Autumn day,
God gives richest gifts today.
Look on every side and see
Pleasant things for you and me.
Apples red, and apples yellow,
Round and juicy, sweet and mellow,
Load the trees till they bend over
And the branches brush the clover.
Child, be glad with all that lives,
But forget not God who gives.

Protecting religious freedom

These two videos answer some important questions. Why is religious freedom important? Why is it being threatened right now? What can we do about it?
